Upneeq

Conveniently located to serve Columbus, OH

Say hello to happier eyes with the help of Upneeq in Ohio. This eye treatment stimulates the muscle in the upper eyelid to lift the appearance of the eyes. Upneeq is a great option for people who want to treat droopy eyelids, or ptosis, without having to go under the knife.

What Is Upneeq?

Upneeq is an eyedrop solution that can lift the upper eyelid by 1-3mm. This solution is used to treat eyelid ptosis that has developed over time through aging.

Results may not be as dramatic as an eyelid lift procedure, but Upneeq is an excellent option for individuals who want to avoid surgery due to factors like an increased chance of complications. If you prefer a non-invasive method of lifting the upper eyelids, the Upneeq eyedrop solution is an alternative way to achieve brighter-looking eyes.

How Does Upneeq Work?

An Upneeq contains 0.1% of oxymetazoline hydrochloride ophthalmic solution. The solution causes Muller’s muscle on the upper eyelid to contract. This contraction will raise the upper eyelid, giving the eyes a more awake and alert appearance.

Am I a Good Candidate for Upneeq?

The best candidates for Upneeq are individuals who have acquired ptosis but are not eligible for surgery. This treatment can help mild, moderate, or severe cases of droopy eyelids.

Congenital ptosis may be more difficult to treat with Upneeq. Candidates with congenital ptosis are recommended to arrange a consultation in order to find out whether an eyelid lift is an available option.

Since Upneeq is an eyedrop solution, it may not work while other medications like beta blockers, anti-hypertensives, cardiac glycosides, and monoamine oxidase inhibitors are being taken. These medications are used to treat heart disease, high blood pressure, and depression.

Your Upneeq Consultation

An Upneeq consultation will involve an in-depth conversation about the condition of your sagging eyelids. Provide your complete medical history, including any current prescriptions, to ensure that this treatment will be safe for your overall health and will not trigger any allergic reactions.

How to Apply Upneeq

Upneeq eyedrop solution can be prescribed by our eye care professionals at Advanced Aesthetic & Laser Surgery. Once you have your prescription, you may administer Upneeq for your ptosis.

First, wash your hands thoroughly to prevent infection. Avoid touching the Upneeq dropper tip to prevent contamination. Tilt your head back and then gently pull down your lower eyelid. Apply one drop of Upneeq in the lower eyelid pouch, then carefully look downward and close your eyes.

Apply gentle pressure at the inner corner of your eye to ensure that the solution completely fills the eye. Refrain from rubbing your eyes to get the best results. Next, perform the same process for the other eye.

One drop of Upneeq per eye is recommended each day. If a patient is wearing contact lenses, they must rest their eyes for at least 15 minutes after administering Upneeq. After waiting for a few minutes, it should be safe to wear contact lenses again.

Upneeq Aftercare

According to clinical studies, a drop of Upneeq can last for 6 hours. If you have a preference on the duration of your lifted eyes, consult with Dr. McMahan to learn more about the safe dosage of Upneeq.
