Combine other Surgeries with your Facelift Columbus OH
It is very common for patients to combine cosmetic procedures to save money and to reduce recovery time for multiple surgeries. Facelifts may be the most common procedure that is performed at the same time as other cosmetic techniques.
Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Probably the number one procedure to be performed with a facelift is a blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery. It is not uncommon for the signs of aging to show up first around the eyes; therefore, eyelid surgery is very popular among patients who are beginning to get concerned about their appearance. Upper eyelid surgery mostly consists of removing excess skin that can hang down onto the eyelashes as it becomes redundant. The lower lip procedure involves removal or repositioning of fat pockets with some skin and muscle tightening.
Brow Lift
Another common surgery that is done with a facelift is a brow lift. I usually perform this surgery with an endoscope, which allows for shorter scars and less risk of numbness to the forehead and scalp. As the name implies, a brow lift elevates the brows and can reduce the frown lines between the eyebrows. A more lateral brow lift can be done with an extension of the facelift incisions in an effort to pull up just the outer ends of the brows without affecting the frown brow muscles.
Chin Implants (Augmentation Genioplasty)
Chin implants can be inserted at the same time as a facelift using the same incision under the chin that is used to tighten the neck muscles. Chin augmentation can help improve the angle of the neck as well as give more definition to the jaw line in addition to adding projection and improving the contour of the chin for a better facial balance.
Dermabrasion
Lines around the mouth do not change much, if at all with a facelift. The can be treated at the same time with laser resurfacing or a dermabrasion which is a technique similar to sanding down a rough board. Like a blepharoplasty and brow lift, skin resurfacing around the mouth are convenient to perform during the time as a facelift as they are all in the same general area. The skin, after a dermabrasion or deep laser treatment, is raw for a week or so until the skin cells grow back and is then pink for a few weeks as it finishes healing.
Other Procedures
Procedures on other areas of the body can also be performed at the same time as a facelift such as liposuction, breast implants and breast lifts. More extensive surgeries such as a tummy tuck, thigh lift or arm lift should probably be done as a separate procedure unless the facial procedure is just a mini-lift.
Injectables
Cosmetic facial injections can also be done at the time of a facelift. Most common are those to fill lines around the mouth using Juvederm® or Restylane®. Fat injections can also be done into the folds that extend from the sides of the nose down to the corners of the mouth for a more ‘natural’ filler.
